NAACP Ozaukee County Branch
Achievement Award
Purpose
This scholarship program has been established to provide further development opportunities to African American candidates in Ozaukee County who display high levels of academic and social potential in keeping with the ideals of the NAACP

Eligibility Criteria
A recipient will be selected from Ozaukee County public high school senior classes based on their academic achievements (cumulative GPA), class rank, scholastic recognition (awards), and extra curricular activities. Examples of extra curricular activities may include:

Participation in community organizations (a letter from an officer of the organization on organization letterhead must accompany the recommendation).

Participation in school activities, such as sports, clubs and organizations.

Classes taken outside of normal schoolwork that will count toward current or future school credits.

A transcript of high school grades, including class rank, and two to three letters of recommendation (one from a high school staff member regarding the eligible criteria) must be included with the completed scholarship application. Students must plan to pursue further education on a full-time basis and provide an acceptance letter from the college or university that they plan to attend.

Award Payment
The NAACP- Ozaukee County will award the $1,000 scholarship grant on behalf of the selected recipient by payment of tuition or other fees to their chosen institutions of continuing education

This scholarship is a 4 year grant and is renewable annually predicated on the following qualifications, requirements and processes:

After the first year, funds will be awarded by check to the student upon providing the NAACP a copy of the student’s transcript for that year

Provide course confirmation for the upcoming year

Provide a copy of student ID for the upcoming school year, or a letter from the dean of students confirming enrollment in the upcoming year

If the student fails to maintain at least a C+ (2.5) average during the year, funding of the scholarship for the upcoming school year will be suspended unless the NAACP Ozaukee County Branch Executive Committee grants an exception to this policy

However, if funding is suspended and the student is able to increase his/her GPA to the 2.5 minimum during the suspended school year, the aforementioned documents can be submitted for the next school year to re-establish scholarship eligibility. In other words the student would have to wait a full school year before reapplying for reinstatement of the remaining scholarship funds

If eligibility is not established within a two-year period, all future grants will be forfeited

Students may pick up application forms in the guidance office of their respective Ozaukee County high school.
